CHRISTINA WATANABE lighting designer



Christina is a New York City based designer for theatre, dance, music, and events. Designs include: I Will Look Forward To This Later (New Ohio), Mabel Madness and Unseamly (Urban Stages), Daniel’s Husband, Small World, and Priceless (Penguin Rep), Se Llama Cristina (Intar), Gruesome Playground Injuries (FITR), Stealing Time (Gelsey Kirkland Ballet), Big Love, Trojan Barbie, The Killer ,and Rent (LIU), Les Miserables (Bristol Valley Theatre), Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike and Tigers Be Still (Curtain Call Theatre). Her work has been seen at multiple venues in and around NYC including The Public Theatre (Under the Radar), The Bushwick Starr, The Brick, Theatre for the New City, and The Living Theatre.

Christina has designed and mentored at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (The Tempest, MacbethViolet) and with the Yale Dramatic Association (A Midsummer Night's Dream). She is the lighting design lead for Ralph Lauren’s Madison Avenue windows. Christina has toured internationally with Shen Wei Dance Arts, domestically with Jonah Bokaer, and regionally with So Percussion. Christina also served as a lighting coordinator at Lincoln Center Festival (2013, 2015). She was a panelist for The League of Professional Theatre Women’s panel “A Discussion: Designers and Directors”. MFA: NYU Tisch. Member USA 829.
